On September 18, 2025, Confirel's Prahok Powder Factory, located in the Prek Leap district of Phnom Penh, opened its doors to a delegation from the Prek Leap National School of Agriculture. This visit, led by Dr. Thon Vathana, Second Vice President of the Senate and former Rector of this school, was hailed as a key step in promoting local food production and the emergence of innovative products from Cambodian soil.

The objective of this meeting was twofold: to present the modernized production line for Prahok Powder—a pride of national gastronomy reinvented by Confirel—and to establish scientific and technical collaborations with the School of Agriculture. Dr. Thon Vathana expressed his desire to see increased cooperation between the National Institute of Agriculture and the company, particularly through research projects focused on food processing and the development of local crops, such as the Keo Romeat Kep mango, cocoa, and black ginger.

In this spirit, Dr. Hay Ly Eang, President of Confirel, announced his intention to formalize this partnership with a memorandum of understanding. He highlighted the plant's current capacity, capable of producing up to 5,000 jars of Prahok powder—or one ton per day—thanks to support from UNIDO's Capfish Capture project. The official inauguration ceremony was held on September 8, 2025, in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, the European Union, and UNIDO, as well as numerous local media outlets. International support and investment in modernization demonstrate a strong desire: to write a new page in Cambodian agri-food processing, combining ancestral traditions and contemporary technologies to make Prahok an ambassador of local know-how on regional and international markets.
